LIFE IS A PRECIOUS GIFT from Mike Odeh's blog

I was in the hospital to visit a brother in Christ. He went for a doctor's appointment that was supposed to take few minutes. A less than 30 minutes doctor's check up turned to  30 days plus in the hospital. He went to the hospital by himself, fully conscious, while talking with his doctor that was it...he opened his eyes five days later to find himself lying on the hospital bed.

" So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. " Psalms 90:12

Life is a very precious gift from God. Sitting in the hospital and hearing this brother testifying, I know now indeed, that life is a precious gift from God. O, that we will understand that the life we are taking for granted, someone, somewhere, right now is praying for a second chance.

This precious gift of life from God, what are we doing with it? Are we using it to serve God, self or Satan?

Three things I learnt today as I reflect on my visit to the hospital.

1. Give thanks to God always.

Always give thanks to God for life because life is frail and delicate. For everything you are, have and particularly what you are able to do give thanks. The ' little ' things we are able to do on daily basis actually are not little but a miracle. To be able to eat and feed yourself is a miracle. To be able to sit up on your bed in the morning is a miracle. To be able to bend down, walk, talk, take shower by yourself and put on your clothes, it's a miracle ; be Thankful always!  No complaints but thanksgiving to God every single day.

2. Serve God faithfully

O, life is like a vapor. The person you saw five minutes ago can be gone and never to be seen on earth alive again. The best use of this vapor-like life is to serve God faithfully, with all your heart and being. And to obey His words. If you have not truly surrendered your heart and life to Christ, it is NEEDFUL to do so. When I came back from the hospital, I came across a video online of how some Christians were slaughtered by ISIL for their faith. My hope is that this "Christians " were born-again, if otherwise they have died in vain.

3.I shall give account

Life is a gift I must give account to God for. The period of five days this brother was unconscious, he said he just saw himself driving and driving for days non stop on a highway all by himself, he couldn't stop the vehicle, he kept driving on and on but for divine intervention.

God is real and He is alive. Eternity also is real.

All eyes shall see the Lord face to face to give account. Believe in Him or not.

Over and over again this brother was saying, "There is God. " "He is a fool, who says there is no God. "

After our life on earth, there shall be only two destinations ; HEAVEN OR HELL!  And where you shall spend eternity is based on how you lived and what you did with the life God gave you. Did you serve God faithfully or otherwise?

There was someone owing this brother some money,  before he fell sick. He sent the money to the guy to help him do a project and he eat the money. He was not happy with the guy and was trying to get his money back before he became sick. When he gained consciousness and was able to communicate, the first thing he did was to send a message to the guy who eat his money, that he was forgiven,  all the amount he was owing that there was  no need for him to pay him back. And he said something that touched my heart, he said the Lord in His mercy gave him back his life, something money can't buy why shouldn't he forgive someone owing him money no matter the amount?

Forgiveness from God is what we need, if we have handled life with ingratitude. We need forgiveness from God if we have used this precious gift of life to serve the devil or self through sin instead of serving God.

The blood Christ shed is remedy and remission for sin. If we shall receive forgiveness, we have to ask God for it through Christ.

When we receive forgiveness from sin and forgive others and love and serve God faithfully to the end, we shall not be afraid to stand before the throne of God individually to give account.

But if you shall take this precious gift of life and waste it and rebel against God through sinful life, God is a faithful Judge... There is no forgiveness of sin in the grave.

Yes, life is a precious gift. What you do with it, is what count. And thank you very much, for these three statements: Giving thanks to God always, in everything, whether good or bad. Serving him faithfully, by doing this, we will be able to please him. And lastly, we shall give an account of whatever we have done with this beautiful gift.Yes, life is a precious gift.
